SCI - Seed Grants

At the Skin Cancer Institute, we are committed to growing new researchers who will help us all learn more about how to reduce the skin cancer burden.

Thanks to the generous support of donors Mr. Karl Isbrecht, The Maltz Foundation, and the 2012 Melanoma Gift Fund, the Skin Cancer Institute opened the ‘Skin Cancer Seed Grant Research’ competition for 2012-2013. This competition and funds are designed to help University of Arizona researchers test novel ideas for prevention, detection, or treatment of skin cancer. These are small grants designed to be 'seeds' to help new research ideas grow into larger research proposals that can be competitive for national funding and to help young investigators grow their careers.

The Skin Cancer Institute is pleased to announce this year’s grantees, each of whom received $8,000 for them to use for their research for the coming year. This is our second competition and we look forward to continuing these efforts to support research on skin cancer in Arizona.
