Senior Genetic Counselor
Zöe Powis completed her bachelor of science degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Psychology at the University of Arizona in 1997. During that time, she worked in cancer research at the University of Arizona Cancer Center with projects specializing in cancer genetics. Prior to graduate school, Ms. Powis worked as residential and substance abuse counselor.
In 2003, she obtained her master's degree in Genetic Counseling from Northwestern University, and in 2005 she obtained certification from the American Board of Genetic Counselors. Upon graduation, Ms. Powis worked in prenatal and infertility genetic counseling in California.
Ms. Powis has worked for the University of Arizona Health Network since 2006, initially in pediatric, neuromuscular and adult genetic counseling, with outreach to the Native American reservations and rural Arizona. Ms. Powis counsels in English and Spanish. She is currently a member of the High-Risk Breast and Ovarian Cancer Clinic, and member of the Adult Genetics Clinic.
