Associate Professor, Radiation Oncology
Dr. Nguyen earned his medical degree at the University of Liege, Liege Belgium in 1983. He completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin, Madison Wisconsin, where he also completed his fellowship in endocrinology. Dr. Nguyen received residency training in radiation oncology at the University of Chicago School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois and completed a fellowship in brachytherapy at the University of Montpellier School of Medicine, Montpellier, France.
Dr. Nguyen is board certified in internal medicine and radiation oncology. Prior to his appointment with the Arizona Cancer Center in 2007, Dr. Nguyen was assistant professor at East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina from 1997-1999, and assistant professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas from 1999-2006. Dr. Nguyen specializes in head and neck cancer, lung cancer and melanoma. His research interests include development of medication for treating radiation complication, dysphagia and lung aspiration following head and neck irradiation. Additionally, he focuses on increasing the cancer cure rate while decreasing radiation side-effects. In 2006, Dr. Nguyen was named one of America's Top Physicians and International Health Professional of the Year.
