Short Bio: 
Jennie R. Joe (Navajo) is a Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and directs the Native American Research and Training Center (NARTC). She is also a faculty member in American Indian Studies.
 
Some of Professor Joe’s research activities have included evaluation of American Indian/Alaska Native Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening programs, childhood diabetes, culturally-based substance abuse treatment programs, disability and rehabilitation, and health disparity and its impact on American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Professor Joe serves on a number of national and international organizations, including the Institute of Medicine, the Advisory Council for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute as well as on the board of the Institute of Aboriginal People’s Health, an institute that is part of the Canadian Institute of Health Research. As a researcher, she has and continues to be involved with a number of health-related studies that are conducted in partnership with tribal groups throughout the country.
