Learning resilience and transformational self-awareness to heal from cancer
The Eye of the Hurricane Program is an in-depth and advanced 10-week program where patients have extensive learning in an educational, experiential and transformative group process being exposed to an array of skills to build resilience.
The program includes three-hour long morning or evening sessions, the same time weekly over 10 weeks, with a one-month and four-month follow-up session of two hours each.
Participants in The Eye of the Hurricane consistently rate the program as exceeding their expectations. It was created and started more than 15 years ago by Mark Gilbert, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and associate director of Psychosocial Oncology at The University of Arizona Cancer Center, with more than 30 years of clinical expertise in the field of mind-body medicine and group therapy interventions. Dr. Gilbert personally leads the Eye of the Hurricane groups.
