When a new patient arrives at The University of Arizona Cancer Center, they will often meet with the American Cancer Society patient navigator to learn about their resources and lodging program. Patients who are traveling to The University of Arizona Cancer Center, please check the lodging list and nearby pharmacies and grocers.
The patient and family will also meet with a social worker to talk about the resources available, such as the lending library, volunteer resource center, computer room, touch therapies and movement classes and comprehensive healing groups. The social workers also assess a patient's financial and emotional needs with the goal of providing assistance, making referrals or providing resources in the community.
All new University of Arizona Cancer Center patients receive a BAG IT bag in their chemotherapy and radiation therapy classes. BAG IT provides reliable information and navigation tools to newly diagnosed individuals and their families.
