We are gearing up for Season 12 - Spring Session!
The spring session will provide a fun environment with attainable fitness and fundraising goals. Spring details: How it works.

What is Better Than Ever?

Better Than Ever (BTE) is a grass-roots effort by The University of Arizona Cancer Center designed to encourage participants to make exercise a regular part of life, and work to prevent cancer. This fitness and fundraising program provides a welcoming, non-competitive atmosphere for participants of all fitness levels to train for local running, walking or cycling events.

According to the National Cancer Institute, physically active women have a 40 percent reduced risk of developing breast cancer, and physically active men have a 10-30 percent reduced risk of developing prostate cancer. Exercise can also help in the prevention of colon cancer and certain chronic diseases.

Better Than Ever resources include:

  • Multiple weekly group training sessions
  • Volunteer Training Leaders to guide team members
  • Training schedule and training packet
  • Fundraising tips and suggestions
  • Cross-training and social events
  • Weekly e-newsletters
  • Free BTE shirt

BTE currently offers group trainings session in Tucson, Green Valley and Sedona. Participants are also welcome to train on their own in any of these cities, or anywhere in the world!

Run, walk or both!
You are welcome to run or walk with us at your pace. Many of our BTE Team Leaders are experienced with a run/walk training routine. This involves incorporating walk breaks into regular running and allows you to reach distance goals while helping to prevent injury and have fun.

Cycling Program
Our fall cycling program is open to all levels of experience and beginners will be given special attention to ensure a safe, fun riding experience.

Who can join BTE?
Individuals of all ages, sizes and abilities are welcome to join in the fun. Since its inception, BTE has encouraged more than 3,000 individuals to increase their fi tness and has distributed $1.6 million in research
grants.

You Can Fight Cancer

In exchange for these benefits, you can help The University of Arizona Cancer Center fight cancer by raising vital funds for women’s cancer research and prevention. Proceeds stay in Arizona and are distributed yearly in the form of research grants. Fundraising goals are low to allow access for many participants.

Since 2000, more than 3,000 participants of BTE have funded $1.6 million in research grants. Participants can cross the finish line knowing that they made a difference in their lives and in the fight against cancer.
