Thomas Miller, MD, professor of medicine at the University of Arizona and director of the UACC's Lymphoma program, will provide a lymphoma overview at the Lymphoma Research Foundation's workshop in Scottsdale March 9. Dr. Miller also will deliver a special lecture: "Clinical Progress and Historical Trends in Lymphoma Resarch" following lunch.
This free event is for people with lymphoma and their loved ones for understanding lymphoma basics and current treatment options. The daylong event will be held at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center, 7700 E. McCormick Parkway.
Robert T. Dorr, PhD, RPH, will help attendees understand drug therapies. Dr. Dorr, a professor of pharmacology at UA, is co-leader of the UACC's therapeutic development scientific research program. He has done extensive laboratory work in the pharmacology of new anticancer agents and chemopreventive agents.
Nikki Barkett, RN, will talk about managing treatment side effects.
Drs. Miller and Dorr also will participate in a question and answer session.
Other topics include clinical evaluation, transplant options, nutrition and stress management. There will be seven concurrent disease-specific breakout sessions.
