Francisco Garcia, MD, MPH, will host a free one-hour seminar with the most current information on the human papilloma virus (HPV) — the virus that can cause cervical cancer.
The seminar will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 from 7-8 p.m. at the Pima County Tucson Women's Commission, 240 N. Court Ave. in downtown Tucson.
Dr. Garcia, the director of the University of Arizona Center of Excellence in Women's Health and a University of Arizona Cancer Center member, is one of the leading international experts in cervical cancer. He will discuss screening guidelines, the prophylactic HPV vaccines and health disparities related to cervical cancer and local efforts to reduce health disparities.
