Better Than Ever fitness training program kicks off its 10th season

The Arizona Cancer Center is proud to announce the kick off of the 10th season of its grassroots outreach program Better Than Ever (BTE). BTE encourages people to make exercise a part of daily life through running, walking and biking in a fun, non-competitive fitness training program.

Since its inception in 2000, more than 2,800 individuals of all ages, sizes and abilities improved their fitness while raising more than $1.4 million, every penny of which goes to women’s cancer research at the Arizona Cancer Center.

This season participants will train for their choice of one or more of three events and four distances:

  • CATwalk 10K (6.2 miles) Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009
  • El Tour de Tucson (33 miles or 66 miles) Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009
  • Tucson Half Marathon (13.1 miles) Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009

BTE provides participants with a training schedule, training tips, a weekly newsletter, multiple weekly training sessions and a BTE technical shirt. Volunteer team leaders guide and motivate participants as they build mileage and train for their chosen event.

Training for the 10th season events begins the week of Sept. 8, though registration continues through Sept. 21.
