Michele Ley, MD, assistant professor in the University of Arizona College of Medicine's Department of Surgery, has been appointed director of the Breast Surgery Program at the UA Cancer Center. Dr. Ley will be responsible for directing breast surgical services and overseeing the development of collaborative breast surgical research and educational initiatives.
Dr. Ley will focus the program’s efforts on:
- Increasing patient participation in clinical trials and introducing new investigator initiated clinical trials
- Educating the community about breast cancer and treatment options
- Improving clinical operations for the breast surgeons and the breast health team
- Providing training for medical students and residents in medicine, radiology, surgery, radiation oncology, pathology and gynecology
Dr. Ley and the breast health team will work to make the UA Cancer Center the primary destination for breast health in the Southwest.
